La reinvención del arte (underground): Estética de lo performativo en una época global de restricciones

    Estamos atravesando un momento de reinvención del arte debido a unas circunstancias sociales sin precedentes, dada la magnitud de las consecuencias derivadas de la pandemia del Covid-19 en nuestro planeta globalizado. Para contestar a la pregunta de cómo hacer frente a esta urgencia de cambio, pensaremos en la figura del artista contemporáneo underground apoyándonos en el concepto de «artista radicante» de Nicolas Bourriaud, y en la práctica artística, en tanto que abierta a la continua transformación y renovación. Postularemos que la identidad del artista se produce mediante actos performativos, tal y como se construye la identidad de género según la teoría queer. Por tanto, la reinvención del arte pasa por una reinvención de la identidad artística. Por último, plantearemos la dificultad  que supone para las artes (especialmente aquellas para las que es más importante la copresencia física) la restricción con respecto a compartir espacios físicos públicos. ¿Cómo extrapolar la producción y recepción artísticas a los espacios virtuales? Concluiremos apostando por el aprovechamiento de este momento de reinvención para crear nuevos tejidos para la comunidad artística apoyándonos en las herramientas digitales. Nuestro marco de pensamiento está definido por autores como Bourriaud, Judith Butler, Michel Foucault, Byung-Chul Han, Larry Shiner y Luis Racionero.

    We are going through a moment of reinvention of art due to unprecedented social circumstances, given the magnitude of the consequences derived from the Covid-19 pandemic on our globalized planet. To answer the question of how to deal with this urgency for change, we will think about the figure of the contemporary underground artist, relying on Nicolas Bourriaud's concept of «radiant artist», and on artistic practice, as it is open to continuous transformation and renovation. We will postulate that the identity of the artist is produced through performative acts, just as gender identity is constructed according to queer theory. Therefore, the reinvention of art goes through a reinvention of artistic identity. Finally, we will discuss the difficulty for the arts (especially those for which physical co-presence is more important) the restriction on sharing public physical spaces. How to extrapolate artistic production and reception to virtual spaces? We will conclude by betting on taking advantage of this moment of reinvention to create new networks for the artistic community based on digital tools. Our framework of thought is defined by authors such as Bourriaud, Judith Butler, Michel Foucault, Byung-Chul Han, Larry Shiner and Luis Racionero.
