ملخص :أدت حملة تنقيب على السفح الغربي لجبل اللاذقية الى الكشف عن كنيسة عين سالم التي تقع على بضعة كيلومترات فقظ من مدينة جبلة. و قد تبين ان لهذه الكنيسة جميع الخصائص المألوفة للكنائس الساحلية و فضلا غن ذلك يظهر فيها تأثير من كنائس قبرص وخاصة في حنياتها الثلاثة البارزة. أما أرضياتها فهي مزينة بالفسيفساء التي تظهر فيها التقنيات المحلية المعروفة لهذا الفن مع الاستعانة بزخارف و رسومات من كنائس انطاكيا و أفاميا . كما أظهرت أعمال التنقيب أن الكنيسة شهدت أعمال اصلاح وترميم عقب زلزال ضرب المنطقة مما يوحي بأن الكنيسة بقيت تقوم بوظيفتها حتى مطلع العصر العباسي.

A few kilometres east of Jableh on the slope of the Latakia mountain, excavations have revealed remains of the church of ʿAin Salem. The building shows characteristics usually found in Syrian coastal churches and a possible influence of early Christian Cypriot churches. Its mosaic pavements testify to the use of local school techniques following the patterns found in Antioch and Apamea. Traces of restoration consequent to an earthquake suggest the survival of the monument until the beginnings of the Abbasid era.

À quelques kilomètres à l’est de Jablé, sur le versant occidental de la montagne de Lattaquié, des fouilles ont mis au jour les vestiges de l’église de ʿAin Salem. Celle-ci présente tous les aspects habituels des églises côtières avec, en outre, une possible influence des églises chypriotes évoquée par le plan de son chevet à trois absides saillantes. Ses sols mosaïqués témoignent de techniques locales reprenant les motifs d’Antioche et d’Apamée. On y observe également des travaux de restauration ayant fait suite à un séisme, suggérant une survie du monument jusqu’au début de l’époque abbasside.
