There are several examples about ethical code’s implementation, one of them is the Ethical Guarantee Seal for grassroots sports, Sports Ethic Seal (SES), which is implemented in Vila Olímpica Club. The ethical code allowed, in a medium-high socioeconomic context, to consolidate grassroots football as a suitable sport for the acquisition of healthy and positive values.
The systematic data collection protocol, based on a record of sanctions linked to unethical behaviors (SLUB), allowed to evaluate its implementation with the aim of assessing to what extent the methodology for promoting ethical behaviour contributes to analyzing and redirecting the evolution of unethical behaviours.
Although it was expected that the implementation of the SES would be related to a reduction in SLUB and despite being a Club with a nurturing environment in which the SES methodology was implemented, an increase in these sanctions was observed, particularly in season 2018-2019. The second objective of this work is based on the analysis of the increase of SLUB after the application of the SES in a grassroots football club and raised in the above mentioned context.
We conclude that this increase in sanctions does not invalidate the SES methodology, but rather reinforces the idea of needing its implementation and consolidation as a tool that allows the observation, moderation and intervention of unethical behaviors.
