  • Resumen
    • Tracing the developments of the critical debate on relational art, with particolar reference to stuides by Nicolas Bourriaud on relational aesthetics and the more recent reflections by Claire Bishop, the present essay intends to propose a new contextualization of the issue, stressing the incisive influence of digital culture and the role played by the Network and New Media in art. What is proposed, then, is a theoretical interpretation that regards the function of the artist in a trans-disciplinary perspective, with some encroachments especially into the field of social sciences. In fact, the passage from Postmodern to the era of 'meta-technology' has made it urgent to reformulate the interpretive categories for art, taking a different approach to art work, to be understood as process, and also to its social function. Offered as a 'gift' in an epoch in which the 'exchange' takes place mainly over the Network, the work of art-celebration-event creates connections with the territory and the community that redefine critical perspectives on the theme of relational and participatory public art.
