  • Resumen
    • Our purpose in this study is to propose a voice model which provides a framework to analyse how student writers construct their authorial identities through the voices they employ in their texts and to test the effectiveness of the Lehman’s rubric design as a measure of authorial voice. The voice model, which features individualised, collective and depersonalised voices can be mapped onto macrofunctions of language as conceptualised in the systemic functional approach to language analysis. The study looks at the construct of voice not only in terms of textual features but also in terms of other elements of the rhetorical situation, which include aspects related to the writer’s experiences with academic writing in English. These issues are investigated by analysing the scripts and interviews of 12 non-native, tertiary-level students from Management, Public Management; Economics and Business.
