    A lo largo de su historia, la Dialectología y la Geolingüística han buscado establecer límites o fronteras a partir de hechos de la lengua para poder llegar a definir y a distinguir unos dialectos de otros. La Geografía Lingüística se ocupa de cómo se presentan las lenguas en el espacio, de establecer isoglosas, límites, fronteras y áreas de transición; y de las cuestiones relacionadas con las lenguas en contacto, tanto en el presente como en el pasado. Este artículo analiza la controversia en torno al término “frontera lingüística” y se adentra en una de las hablas de frontera menos estudiadas del castellano peninsular: la franja meridional de Castilla-La Mancha.

    Throughout its history, Dialectology and Geolinguistics have sought to establish boundaries or borders based on facts of the language in order to be able to define and distinguish some dialects from others. Linguistic Geography deals with how languages are presented in space, establishing isoglosses, boundaries, borders and transition areas; it deals also with issues related to languages in contact, both in the present and in the past. This article analyzes the controversy surrounding the term "linguistic boundary" and delves into one of the least studied linguistic boundaries of Spanish: the southern area of Castile-La Mancha.
