    Este artículo es un análisis estético del desarrollo de representaciones ancestrales y contemporáneas específicas, en el Desierto de Atacama chileno, del personaje conocido como Señor de los Cetros. En este lugar, ha habido una evolución del rol visual atribuido a esta figura antropomórfica, que va desde la influencia del horizonte cultural Tiwanaku en la época precolombina hasta su representación en obras visuales contemporáneas de arte y artesanía, que actualmente denotan que este Señor pertenece a la identidad visual contemporánea del Desierto de Atacama.

    Las representaciones actuales del Señor de los Cetros son parte de una renovación cultural del Desierto de Atacama asociada a la identificación de sus habitantes locales con esta celebridad, así como al aumento del turismo.

    This article is an aesthetic analysis of the development of specific ancestral and contemporary representations, in the Chilean Atacama Desert, of the character known as Lord of the Scepters. In this place, there has been an evolution of the visual role attributed to this anthropomorphic figure, ranging from the influence of the Tiwanaku cultural horizon in pre-Columbian times to its representation in contemporary visual works of art and crafts, which currently denote that this Lord belongs to the contemporary visual identity of the Atacama Desert. The current representations of the Lord of the Scepters are part of a cultural renewal of the Atacama Desert associated with the identification of its local inhabitants with this celebrity, as well as increased tourism.
