  • Resumen
    • Part of the largest of these mounds (Mound I) was subject to detailed excavation, in which was discovered a probable temple converted to use as a ceramic facility, a complex of rooms which included ovens and other domestic facilities, and a church complex. On the western side of the mound, a long rectangular structure with internal niches—a probable previous temple—was converted in the fourth century into a ceramic production workshop with vats for clay processing, while kilns (unexcavated) probably lay outside. Aravecchia offers a judicious assessment of the various options—epoikion, monastery, village, military site.
