El objetivo del estudio es valorar la actividad física y la percepción de la imagen corporal de adolescentes España y Portugal. La muestra la componían 189 estudiantes de 12 a 18 años. Un 53,4% (n= 101), de estos eran españoles y un 46,6% (n= 88) portugueses y un 50,3% chicas (n= 95) y un 49,7% chicos (n= 94). Los instrumentos que se usaron fueron el método de estimación corporal global, la subescala de insatisfacción corporal del Eating Disorders Inventory, el Body Image Avoidance Questionnaire, y el Yesterday Activity Checklist. Los alumnos españoles se muestran más activos físicamente durante el verano y el fin de semana. Los alumnos portugueses son más restrictivos con la comida y se preocupan más por arreglarse y acicalarse. A pesar de esto, son los alumnos españoles los que presentan una mayor tendencia a la bulimia.
The aim of this study is assess physical activity and body image perception and test the associations between both Spain and Portugal populations. The sample consisted in 189 students, aged between 12 and 18 years. The 53.4% of the participants (n = 101), were Spanish and 46.6% (n = 88) were Portuguese. The 50.3% of the students were girls (n = 95) and the 49.7% were boys (n = 94). The instruments used in this study were the method of estimating total body, the body dissatisfaction subscale of the Eating Disorders Inventory, the Body Image Avoidance Questionnaire and the Yesterday Activity Checklist. Spanish students are more physically active during the summer and the weekend. Portuguese students are more restrictive with food and are more concerned with grooming. Despite this, Spanish students have a greater tendency to bulimia.
