Resumen de Peter Bernstein y su disco a trío de guitarra: Monk.

  Este artículo tiene como objetivo principal acercarnos a la música del pianista de jazz y compositor estadounidense Thelonious Monk, si bien desde un punto de vista guitarrístico.

  Para ello, nos vamos a centrar en el disco a trío de guitarra: Monk de Peter Bernstein. Este disco, grabado en 2008, representa un antes y un después en la carrera discográfica de Bernstein, ya que hasta la fecha, no había grabado en este formato de trío (guitarra, bajo y batería). Con la ayuda de algunas transcripciones, realizadas por el autor de este artículo, se llevará a cabo un análisis exhaustivo de los elementos musicales más característicos presentes en este disco. Tambien se hará un breve recorrido por los precedentes del trío de guitarra en la historia del jazz, con idea de contextualizar el disco Monk. Al final del artículo se encuentra la entrevista realizada al propio Bernstein tratando algunas de las cuestiones citadas anteriormente.

  This article has as its main goal to get closer to the music of the American jazz pianist and composer Thelonious Monk, though from a guitarist point of view. Therefore, we will focus on the jazz guitar trio album Monk by Peter Bernstein. This album, recorded in 2008, represents a turning point in the discographic career of Bernstein, since he had not recorded in this kind of ensamble (guitar, bass and drums) until that date. With the help of a couple of transcriptions, made by author of this article, an elaborated analysis of the most characteristic musical elements presents in this album will be carried out. It will also cover a brief journey through important events of the guitar trio in the history of jazz, aiming to contextualize the album Monk. The article concludes with an interview with Peter Bernstein himself, discussing some of the matters previously named.
