The present study will aim to analyse how the Idea of North (Davidson, 2004) has been perceived by the contemporary medievalist imagery produced by tv series. In fact, within the last two decades, several tv productions set in medieval or fantasy worlds, have chosen to develop their narratives in some generic «nordic» contexts. Our analysis will focus on those key-topics – such as violence, religion, and the role of women – which are recognized as essentials in the definition of a new northern-medieval imagery, with an eye to the actualizing role played by these kinds of representations in contemporary society.
