    Mediante el estudio de la secularización de los espectáculos deportivos en el mundo romano, de la relación de los cristianos con los espectáculos deportivos del Imperio Romano antes de su cristianización, de las críticas eclesiásticas cristianas a los espectáculos romanos, de las conversiones al cristianismo de los profesionales de los espectáculos romanos, de la cristianización del ritual circense y de la evolución de los espectáculos deportivos en el Imperio Bizantino, se analiza la relación entre los cristianos y los espectáculos deportivos romanos en el tránsito entre el Imperio Romano y el Imperio Cristiano. Ésta fue una época de grandes controversias y cambios religiosos, pero también de cambios políticos y sociales que sin duda afectaron gravemente a la misma concepción y al desarrollo de los ludi y munera de época imperial.

    This paper analyzes the relationship between the Christians and the Roman sports spectacles in the transit from the Roman Empire to the Christian Empire. This is an era of great controversies and religious changes, but also of political and social changes, which seriously affected the same conception and development of the ludi and munera of Imperial Age. And it does so through the study of the secularization of the sports spectacles in the Roman world; of the relationship of the Christians with the sports spectacles of the Roman Empire before its Christianization;

    of the Christian Church criticism of the Roman spectacles;

    of conversions to Christianity of the Roman entertainment professionals; of the Christianization of the circus ritual; and of the evolution of sports spectacles in the Byzantine Empire.
