Psicoeducación vs. Educación para la salud

    Desde 1948, la definición de salud no ha sufrido ninguna modificación. El estado de completo bienestar físico, mental y social, y no solamente la ausencia de afecciones o enfermedades fue lo interpretación adoptado durante la Conferencia Sanitaria Internacional celebrada en Nueva York en julio de 1946 que estableció la «idea de salud». Cuando ponemos nuestros ojos en el concepto de salud mental, encontramos que éste no constituye solo la ausencia de trastornos mentales, estableciéndolo como aquel estado de bienestar en el que el individuo toma consciente de sus propias capacidades, pudiendo afrontar las tensiones normales de la vida, el reto del trabajo de forma productiva y la capacidad de hacer una contribución a su comunidad.

    La Dra. Margaret Chan, Directora General de la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), durante la Cumbre sobre los Objetivos de Desarrollo del Milenio celebrada en 2010, estableció que la educación y la salud están íntimamente unidas. La educación para la salud constituye una de las funciones básicas del equipo de salud pública cuyo objetivo es el de procurar enseñar las formas de vida saludable, fomentar y recuperar la salud, además de instruir al individuo en la manera de insertarse adecuadamente en su medio social. Este proceso educativo es un acto comunicativo en el que el transmisor lo constituye la enfermera, el receptor el individuo-comunidad y el mensaje está formado por los contenidos y las herramientas fomentadoras del autocuidado. Recientemente, en el campo de la salud mental se ha comenzado a emplear el término psicoeducación para designar a la educación para la salud dirigida hacia usuarios que acceden a los dispositivos presentes en la red. Pero, ¿a qué nos referimos los profesionales de salud mental cuando utilizamos este término? ¿es lo mismo educación para la salud que psicoeducación para la salud?, y, ¿el empleo del término psicoeducación favorece al individuo que carece de bienestar mental o fortalece el «estigma» que está presente socialmente?

    Since 1948, the definition of health has not undergone any change. The state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity was the interpretation adopted at the International Health Conference held in New York in July 1946 which established the "idea of health". When we put our eyes on the concept of mental health , we find that it is not just the absence of mental disorders , establishing it as a state of wellbeing in which the individual becomes aware of his own abilities , can cope with the normal stresses of life, the challenge of working productively and the ability to make a contribution to your community.

    Dr. Margaret Chan, Directress General of the World Health Organization (WHO) during a summit on the Millennium Development Goals held in 2010, established that education and health are closely linked. Health education is one of the basic functions of the public health team whose goal is to try to teach healthy lifestyles , promote and restore health , and to educate the individual in the way of properly inserted in their social . This educational process is a communicative act in which the transmitter is the nurse, the individual-community receiver and the message consists of the content and tools of self -promoting. Recently, in the field of mental health has begun to use the term to designate psychoeducation health education directed towards users accessing devices on the network. But what do we mean mental health professionals when we use this term? Is it the same health education for health psychoeducation?, and, does the use of the term psychoeducation favors the individual who lacks mental wellbeing and strengthens the "stigma" that is present socially?
