La violencia y las agresiones hacia el personal sanitario eran impensables hace no muchos años y han ido aumentando progresivamente hasta experimentar cuatro veces más violencia y agresión que cualquier otro trabajador. Esto se ha traducido en miedo y fobias que ocasionan alteraciones del sueño, disminución de las ganas de trabajar e incluso abandono de la profesión. Con el objeto de poner freno a la violencia en los Servicios de Urgencias, ofrecer un mejor servicio sanitario y comprender los diferentes problemas a los que tienen que enfrentarse estos profesionales, vamos a exponer los sentimientos, pensamientos y opiniones de un enfermero que fue agredido e insultado en un Servicio de Urgencias.

Over the past three decades or so, violence and aggressions to health personnel were unthinkable and rare, but lately it have increased highly in number so the rate of violence and aggressions is fairly four times higher in comparison with workers from other employments. Consequently, nurses have fears and phobias that result in sleeping diseases, losing the appetite for working and what´s more, having to give up their profession. According to this way of evidence and with the main aim to stop the violence in the Emergency Services, people having a better Health Service and clearly to understand the different problems that this professional nursing staff have to face up to; we are going to display the feelings, thoughts and opinions of a male nurse who was strongly assaulted by an outraged patient relative who beat and swore at him.
