Resumen de Osteogénesis Imperfecta tipo II

  Se presenta un recién nacido pretérmino adecuado para la edad gestacional con diagnóstico prenatal de acondroplasia. Nacimiento por parto vaginal, queposterior a esto inicia con franco deterioro respiratorio. Al examen físico el paciente presenta acortamiento de las extremidades con arqueamiento distal. Se le brinda el apoyo ventilatorio y se envían radiografías de tórax y huesos largos donde se observan múltiples fracturas y callo óseo en rosario continuo en la parilla costal y en extremidades. Todo lo anterior es altamente sugestivo de osteogénesis imperfecta específicamente del tipo II, el cual es el fenotipo que compromete en mayor frecuencia la vida del paciente a corto plazo. El deterioro de este paciente ameritó el traslado a un tercer nivel de atención donde se prosiguió con los estudios y manejo necesario.

  The report is about a newborn suitable for gestational age with prenatal diagnosis of achondroplasia. Birth by vaginal delivery, whom after this starts with frank respiratory deterioration. Upon physical examination, the patient presents shortening of the extremities with distal bowing. Ventilatory support is provided and xrays of the thorax and long bones are submitted, where multiple fractures and bone callus are observed in continuous rosary in the rib cage and in the extremities. All of the above is highly suggestive of osteogenesis imperfecta specifically of type II, which is the phenotype that most often compromises the patient's life in the short term. The deterioration of this patient warranted the transfer to a third level of care where he continued with the studies andnecessary management.
