    En este trabajo se aborda el estudio de dos corpus documentales de naturaleza gráfica: los planos de los términos municipales que aparecen en las Respuestas Generales del Catastro de Ensenada y los croquis enviados al geógrafo Tomás López de Vargas y Machuca por parte del bajo clero rural que ejercía sus funciones en las distintas localidades de la geografía española. El enfoque teórico y metodológico con el que analizamos e interpretamos estas fuentes proviene de la Geografía de la Percepción y el Comportamiento, puesto que consideramos estas imágenes como la expresión gráfica de los mapas cognitivos de los sujetos que las llevaron a cabo.

    Su estudio nos permitirá profundizar en el conocimiento de las comunidades rurales españolas de la segunda mitad del siglo XVIII a partir del análisis de los significados y valores que otorgan al paisaje rural en su conjunto, así como a los distintos elementos que lo componen.

    This article deals with the study of two documentary corpora of graphic nature: The plains of the municipal terms that appear in the General Answers of the Cove Cadastre and the sketches sent to the geographer Tomás López y Vargas Machuca by the low rural clergy that exercised its functions in the different localities of the Spanish geography. The theoretical and methodological approach with which we analize and interpret these sources comes from the Geography of Perception and Behaviour, since we consider these sketches as the graphic expression of the cognitive maps of the subjects who carried them out.

    Its study will allow us to deepen in the knowledge of the Spanish rural communities of the second half of the XVIII century from the analysis of the meanings and values that they give to the rural landscape as a whole, as well as the different elements that make it up.
