Vitamina D na prática esportiva: scoping review

      Vitamin D is considered an important steroid hormone with functions in various body metabolic processes. The main ways of obtaining vitamin D are through sun exposure and diet, as well as adequate vitamin D3 supplementation. The aim of the study was a literature review scope about vitamin D and sports relationship. A qualitative, transverse and exploratory treatment was used in searches were performed on the Pubmed digital platform, using key words: "Cholecalciferol", "Calcitriol", "Athletes" and "Exercise". As inclusion criterion: clinical trials, which addressed main functions of vitamin D in the human body relating it to sports practice. A total of 608 vitamin D-related articles were found in sports practice. After filtering for clinical trials, 164 studies were selected for reading the title and summary, and subsequently, because they were not in accordance with the inclusion criteria, 138 studies were excluded, 26 were selected for a thorough reading in which 7 were used for the review. The results showed that vitamin D is characterized as a conditioning factor of athletes' bone and muscular density, increased strength, aerobic resistance and greater resistance to infections. Likewise, their malnutrition is related to a higher risk of athletes. Our findings suggest vitamin D acts in several processes that favor the athlete's physical performance, besides acting as preventive factor of several musculoskeletal disorders.

      A vitamina D é considerada um importante hormônio esteroide com funções em diversos processos metabólicos do organismo. As principais formas de obtenção da vitamina D são através da exposição ao sol e alimentação, além de suplementação adequada de vitamina D3. O objetivo do estudo foi realizar uma revisão de escopo de literatura acerca da relação entre a vitamina D e a prática esportiva. Foi utilizado um tratamento qualitativo, transversal e exploratório em que foi realizado buscas na plataforma digital do Pubmed, utilizando as palavras chaves: “Cholecalciferol”, “Calcitriol”, “Athletes” e “Exercise”. Como critério de inclusão: ensaios clínicos, que abordassem as principais funções da vitamina D no organismo humano relacionando-a à prática esportiva. Foram encontrados 608 artigos relacionados a vitamina D na prática esportiva, após a aplicação de filtro para ensaios clínicos foram selecionados 164 estudos para a leitura do título e resumo, e posteriormente, por não estarem de acordo com os critérios de inclusão, foram excluídos 138 estudos, 26 foram selecionados para uma minuciosa leitura na integra, no qual, 7 foram utilizados para a revisão. Os resultados obtidos demostraram que a vitamina D se caracteriza como um fator condicionante da densidade óssea e muscular dos atletas, aumento de força, resistência aeróbica e maior resistência a infecções, do mesmo modo, a sua subnutrição está relacionada a um maior risco de lesão por atletas. Nossos achados sugerem que a vitamina D atua em diversos processos que favorecem o desempenho físico do atleta além de atuar como fator preventivo de diversas disfunções musculoesqueléticas. ABSTRACT Vitamin D in sports practice: scoping reviewVitamin D is considered an important steroid hormone with functions in various body metabolic processes.
