    El Museo de Bellas Artes de Asturias custodia desde hace cuatro décadas una tabla de gran relevancia en la historia del coleccionismo local. Esta delicada pieza devocional, atribuida al Maestro de la Leyenda de la Magdalena, presenta cuando está abierta los retratos del financiero asturiano Álvaro de Carreño y su esposa María González de Quirós flanqueando una hermosa escena de la Epifanía, todo ello pintado en Bruselas seguramente en la tercera década del siglo XVI. El tríptico fue recibido en Oviedo en un tiempo en que la ciudad mostraba las dramáticas consecuencias del incendio de 1521.

    The Fine Arts Museum of Asturias has been the repository for over 40 years of a panel painting which is highly significant in the local history of collecting. This delicate devotional triptych is attributed to the Master of the Magdalen Legend. Once opened, its central panel shows the Epiphany, flanked by the portraits of the donors on the side wings: the Asturian banker Álvaro de Carreño and his wife, María González de Quirós. The triptych was probably painted in Brussels in the third decade of the 16th century, and it arrived in Oviedo after the terrible fire of 1521 which ravaged the city.
