    Las tomas fotográficas de Valladolid por Charles Clifford y Jean Laurent a mediados del siglo XIX es un ejemplo máxime de coleccionismo y mecenazgo para la Casa Real. La reina Isabel II encargó a ambos la labor de fotografiar la ciudad de Valladolid. Estas imágenes nacían para colocarse en álbumes y así poder coleccionarse. Esto desencadenaría, en un reconocido prestigio para estos dos fotógrafos. Con Jean Laurent se llegó a crear una reedición de catálogos con sus tomas considerándose las fotografías como obras de arte, y así dando paso al coleccionismo de fotografías. En el siglo XX la expansión comercial de la fotografía va mutando hacia la impresión de tarjetas postales como las fototipias de la empresa Hauser y Menet.

    The photographic shots of Valladolid by Charles Clifford and Jean Laurent in the mid-nineteenth century is a prime example of collecting and patronage for the Royal House. Queen Isabel II commissioned both the work of photographing the city of Valladolid. These images were born to be placed in albums and thus be able to be collected. This would trigger, in a recognized prestige for these two photographers. With Jean Laurent, a reissue of catalogs with their shots was created, considering photographs as works of art, and thus giving way to the collection of photographs. In the twentieth century the commercial expansion of photography is changing towards the printing of postcards such as the phototypes of the company Hauser and Menet.
