  O Supereu avassala o domínio do eu e das engenhosamente cifradas formações do inconsciente, ao passo que também impele ao gozo... mais além do princípio do prazer. Por isso, ao atravessar o conceito de Supereu, o "eco" do pai (mas também seu Nome) serve de orientação. Entre o eco (do castigo) e o Nome se jogam os caminhos que bifurcam as apostas do destino ligados ao Supereu: apostar no pior do pai ou para além do pai.
