  • Resumen
    • After an initial intervention in 2016, a new season of actions was carried out to consolidate some of the main structures in the El Soto mill complex (Navarrete, Álava). The work was supported by the Álava Provincial Council’s Historical-Architectural Heritage Service. This year, restoration work focused mainly on the mill building itself. All the rubble was removed from the milling room and the most recent floor levels were restored. The same process was also carried out in the inner areas of the two adjacent enclosures (to the east and to the west). In these spaces, diverse material elements belonging to the milling machinery were detected and documented, along with (to a lesser extent), the domestic area used by mill usufructuaries and tenants from the 18th century onwards. The restoration work carried out on the structural elements still standing and the closing of the gables was also monitored. New breakthroughs in the historical-archaeological and architectural study of the site point to a close relationship between the mill and the nearby medieval Nuestra Señora de Ocón Sanctuary
