Las personas diabéticas con bomba de insulina necesitan del apoyo de profesionales sanitarios que estén bien formados y el de sus familias. Los cambios de salud en la población diabética con bomba de insulina y anciana, hacen que sean mucho más susceptibles para volver a pasar a la terapia bolo-basal. El propósito de este relato biográfico fue conocer la vivencia subjetiva de un anciano diabético con bomba de insulina cuando se vio mermada su capacidad para manejarla por el agravamiento de sus diferentes patologías. La metodología utilizada fue la investigación cualitativa, y a través de una entrevista semiestructurada obtuvimos el relato biográfico de Pedro. La calidad de vida y la resolución de problemas fueron temas emergentes del relato Tras muchos años siendo diabético, la bomba de insulina fue la solución a sus glucemias inestables pero afectó negativamente en su familia porque se tuvieron que responsabilizar de su manejo.

Diabetics with insulin pump need the support of health professionals that are well trained and their families. The health changes in the diabetic population with insulin pump and elderly, make them more susceptible to happen again the basal-bolus therapy. The aim of this biographical narrative is to know the subjective experience of an elderly diabetic with insulin pump when hampered his ability to handle the worsening of their different pathologies. The methodology used was qualitative research, and through a semistructured interview get the biographical narrative of Peter. The quality of life and problem solving were emerging themes of the narrative. Following many years being diabetic, the insulin pump was the solution to their unstable glycemia but negatively affect to his family because they had to hold their management.
