    Si bien es cierto que el árbitro o juez deportivo constituye una figura clave  en el deporte organizado para un desarrollo adecuado de la competición (Louvet, Gaudreau, Menaut, Genty,  & Deneuve, 2009), destaca la notable falta de atención que éstos han recibido en cuanto al síndrome se refiere (Dosil, 2004; Gustafsson et al., 2014).  De hecho, únicamente se ha analizado el efecto que diversas variables como el miedo a cometer errores o los conflictos interpersonales en competición ejercen sobre el síndrome, atribuyendo a éstas un rol estresor, y el posible abandono del arbitraje (Rainey, 1999; Rainey & Hardey, 1999). Sin embargo, teniendo en cuenta las elevadas demandas tanto físicas como psicológicas que los árbitros de élite deben afrontar, se entiende que éstos son perfectamente susceptibles de desarrollar dicho síndrome.

    While it is true that the referee or sports judge is a key figure in organized sport for the proper development of the competition (Louvet, Gaudreau, Menaut, Genty, & Deneuve, 2009), it highlights the remarkable lack of attention they have received As far as the syndrome is concerned (Dosil, 2004; Gustafsson et al., 2014). In fact, only the effect that various variables such as the fear of making mistakes or interpersonal conflicts in competition exert on the syndrome has been analyzed, attributing a stressor role to the syndrome and the possible abandonment of arbitration (Rainey, 1999; Rainey & Hardey, 1999). However, taking into account the high physical and psychological demands that elite referees have to face, it is understood that these are perfectly susceptible to developing this syndrome.
