    • The media companies of Catalonia are currently ever more subject to the events which occur in the international and Spanish system of communication, especially with regard to the strategies of the big corporations and managers who emanate from the public policies on national and international communication. At the beginning of the digital era, it does not seem that the situation will necessarily change despite the notable increase in the communicative offer in both spheres, from the local to the more global. With regard to the general problems of bringing the companies in this new scenario up to speed and in order to help ready them to act in Catalonia or in wider markets, the Catalan media companies need to know the evolution of the communication needs and uses of their audience and, above all, need a policy for the sector in order to eliminate the current feeling of insecurity.
