    The St Lucia case study is a contribution to the re-reading of the territorial strategies of the colonial, apartheid and post-apartheid South Africa, at local and national levels. It shows ambivalence between the will of Afrikaners to segregate themselves, the proclamation of national parks, and the reality of a majority of poor black people trying to exist politically. In light of the new constraining environmenial laws, we see the development of environmental conflicts where Afrikaners are battling to preserve their free access to the sea while poor Blacks are illegally occupying a State forest.

    L'exemple de SI Lucia permet une relecture des stratégies territoriales de l'Afri que du Sud coloniale, d'apartheid et post-apartheid, aux niveaux local et natio nal, entre une volonté d'individualisation d'un groupe d'Afrikaners, la création de parcs naturels, et d'une majorité noire pauvre en quête de reconnaissance politique. Il met en perspective des conflits environnementaux qui voient les Afrikaners de St Lucia, revendiquer leur libre accès aux plages des littoraux sudniricains lace à de nouvelles lois environnementales contraignantes ou encore des Noirs occuper illégalement une forêt d'État
