This paper looks at parliamentary representation through the case of the deputies elected in Catalan districts during the «Década Moderada» (1843-1854). Specifically, focusing on the nature of the link between the representatives and the represented, it looks anew at the idea that the imperative mandate was always linked to the interests of the constituency. It aims to prove that, on the contrary, the practice could exist beyond the territorial ties and thus to show its complexity, emphasizing the complementarity of both territorial domains, national and district. But it also shows that at the same time the representative mandate was emerging as a new practice.
