  La utilización de organizaciones sin ánimo de lucro en la financiación y cobertura de los atentados de las torres gemelas del 2001, hizo que la comunidad internacional representada por la ONU y el GAFI, y posteriormente la UE, prestara atención y dedicara la Recomendación nº8 a este tipo de entidades con el objeto de evitar que se utilicen para el BC/FT. La evaluación de riesgos conforme a la primera recomendación y la utilización de medidas preventivas individualizadas junto con una legislación nacional adecuada servirán para proteger al sector de los intentos de abuso relativos al BC/FT.

  The abuse of the nonprofit organizations and their utilization to prepare and finance the terrorist attacks on September 11th 2001, made that the international community represented by the UN and FATF, and later the UE, begin to prevent the abuse of this type of organizations through the inclusion of the recommendation nº8 of the FATF to prevent the abuse related to the terrorist finance and money laundering. The evaluation of the risk, according to the first recommendation and the use of the adapted prevention measures with the proper national regulations will be able to protect the nonprofit sector form any abuse related to the terrorist finance and money laundering.
