El matadero municipal sobre el cerro de Santo Vito (Cáceres): historiografía y proceso constructivo.

    Escasas son las noticias que se tienen de la historia de los mataderos municipales cacereños hasta bien entrado el siglo XIX y principios del XX. El presente texto recoge un exhaustivo análisis sobre el proceso constructivo del matadero erigido sobre el cerro de Santo Vito, en Cáceres. Debió tratarse de una de las construcciones de mayor enjundia que la ciudad llevó a cabo y en la que, a través de sus muros, el arquitecto municipal, Emilio María Rodríguez, proyecta un edificio en consonancia con la normativa sanitaria que fue surgiendo en tales años. Actualmente de esta construcción únicamente nos quedan los recuerdos, algunas fotos y postales, pues fue derribado en la segunda mitad del siglo pasado para, sobre su solar, construir viviendas de uso familiar.

    Currently, there is little news about the municipal slaughterhouses in Cáceres until well into the 19th and early 20th centuries. The text presented here provides a comprehensive analysis of slaughterhouse building history, located on the hill of Santo Vito, in Cáceres. It must have been one of the most important building that the city carried out and in which, through its walls, the municipal architect, Emilio Mª Rodríguez, projects a building in line with the health regulations that emerged in those years.Nowadays, of this construction we only have the memories, some photos and postcards, as it was demolished in the second half of the last century to build family flats son its site.
