    Se considera que en la actualidad «el fenómeno contemporáneo fundamental es el de la ciudad; ésta se nos ofrece cada vez más compleja y rica, múltiple en las experiencias subjetivas que produce y ofrece a sus habitantes. Gracias a esta diversidad, sabemos que no podemos hablar de una memoria de ciudad, sino de una pluralidad de memorias, que van desde las oficiales -aquellas que buscan fijar el pasado en torno a unos mitos fundadores- hasta las más libres y nómadas, como las del creador artístico»,1 y en cuyos estudios laboran las distintas ciencias sociales como constructos obligados para comprender las sociedades contemporáneas.
