Resumen de Lyell, a agência geológica humana e o antropoceno: Em busca de uma epistemologia geológica e arqueológica.

  The analysis of Charles Lyell’s Principles of Geology first and tenth editions shows that the author, in spite of a prudent position on the consideration of the extent and significance of man’s geologic agency in front of geologic time and the global geologic processes, establishes the statute of mankind as a geological agent, as he does on the firsthand the description of that now we characterize as technogenic deposits and environments and, also, identifies in Dante’s Inferno what perhaps be the first literary reference to a technogenic deposit. Such conclusions are discussed in terms of their implications in the theory of Geology and Archaeology, particularly with regard to the conception of a new geological time marked by human agency and to the study of its records.

  A análise da primeira e da décima edições inglesas dos Principles of Geology, de Charles Lyell mostra que este, conquanto realmente seja prudente na consideração da extensão e significado globais da ação humana frente à processualidade geológica global e ao tempo geológico, não só admite o estatuto de agente geológico à Humanidade, como faz pioneiramente a descrição do que hoje denominamos processos e ambientes tecnogênicos e, ainda, identifica no Inferno de Dante o que talvez seja a primeira referência literária a um depósito tecnogênico. Tais conclusões são discutidas em função de suas implicações na teoria da Geologia e da Arqueologia, em particular no que diz respeito à concepção de um novo tempo geológico marcado pela agência humana e do estudo de seus registros.
