Este artículo indaga en las características de la acción municipal socialista en Madrid entre comienzos del siglo xx y la Segunda República. Teniendo en cuenta la relevancia de un contexto histórico mar-cado por numerosas transformaciones económicas y sociales, se analizarán las propuestas fundamentales de esa formación política para lograr la renovación del Ayuntamiento de Madrid y acompasar la institución a los ritmos evolutivos de la ciudad. De forma específica, este trabajo tendrá en cuenta sus nuevos planteamientos en materia administrativa, sus incursiones en la municipalización de servicios públicos y las estrategias planteadas en términos de planeamiento urbanístico.
This article explores the characteristics of municipal socialist policies in Madrid between the beginning of the twentieth century and the Second Republic. By examining a period characterised by numerous economic and social changes, this article analyses the socialists’ fundamental proposals to undertake the renovation of the City Council in order to ensure that this institution responded to the changing rhythms of the city. Specifically, this work assesses the new approaches of the socialists in administrative matters, their incursions into the municipalisation of public services and their proposed urban-planning strategies.
