El presente ensayo examina, a la luz del marco normativo y pronunciamientos de los órga-nos del Sistema Interamericano de Derechos Humanos (SIDH), la evolución del derecho a un medio ambiente sano. En concreto, se describen los instrumentos interamericanos, las resoluciones de los órganos políticos de la Organización de Estados Americanos, y los pronunciamientos de la Comisión y de la Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos en la materia. Finalmente, el ensayo contextualiza el desarrollo del derecho a un medio ambiente sano en el SIDH a la luz de los instrumentos y jurisprudencia de otros sistemas supranacionales, en particular del Sistema Universal de Derechos Humanos.

This essay examines the evolution of the right to a healthy environment in the light of the legal framework and pronouncements of the organs of the Inter-American Human Rights System (IAHRS). It describes the provisions of the Inter-American instruments, the resolutions of the political organs of the Organization of American States, and the pro-nouncements of the Commission and the Inter-American Court of Human Rights on said subject matter. Finally, the essay contextualizes the development of the right to a healthy environment at the IAHRS in light of the instruments and case law of other supranational systems, in particular the Universal Human Rights System.
