L'actuació de Barcelona a les Corts de 1705-1706

    El presente trabajo se centra en el papel preeminente de Barcelona entre los municipios que participaron en las Cortes del Archiduque Carlos, no sólo debido a que era la principal de las ciudades catalanas, sino también por sus prerrogativas en el desarrollo de la asamblea. El Consejo de Ciento elegía una comisión, la Veinticuatrena de Cortes, que enviaba las órdenes convenientes a los síndicos de la Ciudad que participaban en la actividad parlamentaria. La documentación utilizada permite conocer los temas que preocupaban al municipio y la actuación de los síndicos, que se centró en tres líneas: los oficios municipales, las prerrogativas del municipio, y la economía y fiscalidad. En conjunto, el análisis de las medidas debatidas y aprobadas en las Cortes permite concluir que el peso de la Ciudad de Barcelona dentro del Brazo Real era abrumador.

    This work focuses on the pre-eminent role of Barcelona among the municipalities that participated in the Cortes (legislative councils) of Archduke Carlos, not only due to its being the main Catalan city, but also due to its prerogatives in the developments of the assembly. The Council of One Hundred would elect a commission, the Twenty-four of Cortes, which sent the appropriate orders to the representatives of the City participating in the parliamentary activity. The documentation used shows the issues that concerned the municipality and the actions of the representatives, which centred on three areas: the municipal posts, the prerogatives of the municipality, and economy and taxation. Overall, the analysis of the measures put to debate and approved in the Cortes permits the conclusion that the weight of the City of Barcelona within the Brazo Real (legislators representing the royal valleys) was overwhelming.
