    El informe describe los principales retos de los sistemas educativos de la Unión Europea y otros países europeos en lo que se refiere al acceso a la función docente y a la planificación previa de necesidades de profesorado, así como a las formas en que los diversos sistemas educativos abordan este aspecto en el marco de la formación inicial del profesorado. Se analizan también los requisitos para el acceso a la función docente, las formas de contratación y las perspectivas de desarrollo y asesoramiento profesional y se dedica un último apartado a la evaluación de la práctica docente y a su repercusión en la carrera profesional del profesorado.

    El documento establece los principales puntos en común entre los diversos sistemas educativos y destaca los elementos que los diferencian, haciendo hincapié en las dificultades comunes que se desprenden del análisis conjunto de las diferentes perspectivas adoptadas por los países estudiados.

    The report describes the main challenges regarding access, progression and support within the teaching professions in the EU educational systems and other neighbouring countries. The forward planning of teaching staff, as well as the different ways in which educational authorities deal with this issue in the frame of initial teacher training is also analyzed, as well as the conditions for access to teaching, recruitment and employment methods and the prospects of professional development and mentoring. A last section is devoted to teacher appraisal and its impact of professional development and promotion.

    The document sets out the main points shared by the different educational systems and points out the differentiating approaches, stressing the common difficulties found in the analyzed countries and the way they are dealt with from the different perspectives involved.
