    Como docentes, escuchamos diariamente la importancia de introducir el ajedrez en la escuela y los innumerables beneficios educativos que supondría este hecho para el alumnado. Consultando las fuentes documentales e informativas del mundo digital actual no es difícil encontrar infinitos argumentos y justificaciones que recomiendan la presencia de este juego, deporte, filosofía, arte y ciencia dentro del sistema educativo. El “Ajedrez y la motricidad” de Gustavo Martínez Serrano y Jordi Prió Burgués, supone encontrar fórmulas pedagógicas que ayudan a mejorar la presencia del ajedrez en los centros educativos aunando de manera práctica dos grandes campos de la ciencia, el ajedrez y la motricidad humana.

    Asimismo, este libro explora las relaciones del ajedrez con el universo motriz, ofreciendo como alternativa de la enseñanza-aprendizaje de este deporte, así como su introducción o presencia en los centros educativos, la utilización de recursos, actividades y juegos motrices desarrollados en un contexto lúdico, físico y dinámico, generalmente la asignatura de educación física.En suma, esta obra parte del convencimiento de que el ajedrez puede y debe formar parte, de manera transversal e interdisciplinar, de otras áreas del currículo y, además, plantea prácticas novedosas que nos hace capaces de alcanzar el éxito educativo.

    As a teachers, we hear everyday the importance of introducing chess in the school and the countless educational benefits that this would imply for the students. If we consult the documentary and informational sources of the current digital world, it’s not difficult to find infinite arguments and reasons that recommend the presence of this game, sport, philosophy, art and science inside the educational system. The “Chess and mobility” by Gustavo Martínez Serrano and Jordi Prió Burgués, means finding pedagogical methods that help improving the presence of chess in educational centres, by combining in a practical way two major fields of science, chess and human motor skills.

    Moreover, this book explores the relations between chess and mobility universe, providing as an alternative the teaching-learning of this sport, as well as its introduction or presence in educational centres, the use of resources, activities and motor games developed in a playful, physical and dynamic context, usually the subject of physical education.

    To sum up, this work is based on the conviction that chess could and should be part, in a transversal and interdisciplinary way, of other areas of the curriculum and, in addition, it offers innovative practices that make us capable of achieving educational success.
