The exile of Chilean poet Omar Lara (Nueva Imperial, 1941) to Romania marked a milestone in his life and poetry. In Lara's work, Bucharest was transformed into Portocaliu, the imagined city. In this article, we discover the convergence of place and time, encompassing the coordinates of a present in disorder and a future that is stuck in the past.
