  • Resumen
    • The study deals with the project for the urban reorganization of the wide road facing the coastline of the city of Palermo and called the “Foro Borbonico” (now “Foro Umberto I”). With this project dating back to 1825, it was planned to raise a monument in honor of King Francesco I di Borbone and to make some significant interventions of embellishment and functional improvement in the context of the sixteenth-century walls delimiting the road and of the above “Passeggiata delle Cattive” walk. Along with the description of the project, it is summarized the historical evolution of this “monumental” road, whose origin dates back to the viceroyalty of Marco Antonio Colonna (1577-1585) and which over time the absolute power gave it various denominations, configurations and meanings until the beginning of the last century.
