    El presente estudio trata de la relación de D. Ignacio Bauer Landauer con el Colegio de Doctores de Madrid y con la Academia de Doctores de Madrid.

    D. Ignacio Bauer, banquero y judío, nació en 1891 en Madrid. Hombre polifacético, destacó en los campos de la Literatura, el Derecho, la Antropología, la Bibliografía, etc.

    En Noviembre de 1922 creó el Colegio de Doctores de Madrid y fue su primer Presidente. Bajo su mandato el Colegio de Doctores homenajeó a Einstein y sobre todo dedicó su atención a la alfabetización, centrando su atención en Las Escuelas de Pontones. A este respecto impulsó la creación de “La Junta de Damas”, “Los Amigos del Niño”, “Los Amigos de la Universidad” y otras asociaciones. En Julio de 1932 dimitió como Presidente del Colegio de Doctores, ocupando la Vicepresidencia segunda. Tras la Guerra Civil, junto a D. Francisco Guerrero Gutiérrez reorganizó el Colegio que pasó a llamarse “Academia de Doctores de Madrid”.

    En 1949 fue elegido Presidente D. Eduardo Aunós y se acordó nombrar a D. Ignacio Bauer Académico de Honor. Falleció en Basilea en 1961.

    The present study addresses the relation of Ignacio Bauer Landauer with both the Madrid College of Physicians and the Madrid Academy of Physicians.

    Ignacio Bauer was born in Madrid in 1891 of a Jewish family. He worked as a banker, though due to his multifaceted spirit, he stood out in different academic fields, such as Literature, Law, Anthropology, Bibliography, etc.

    In November 1922, he founded the Madrid College of Physicians and became his first Chairman. It was under his presidency that the College honored Einstein. It also paid close attention to Literacy focusing on the 'Pontones Schools'. In this respect he encouraged the creation of the 'Committee of Ladies', as well as the 'Friends of the Child' and the 'Friends of the University' and other associations.

    In July 1932, he resigned from his post as Chairman and became second Vice-chairman of the Madrid College of Physicians. It was after the Spanish Civil War, that with the help of Francisco Guerrero Gutiérrez, he reorganized the College and it became the Madrid Academy of Physicians.

    In 1949, Eduardo Aunós was elected Chairman of the Academy and Ignacio Bauer Landauer was made Honorary Academic of the Madrid Academy of Physicians. He died in Basilea in 1961.
