    Generalmente todos los historiadores y escritores que han analizado la figura del Cid Campeador han coincidido en reconocer y ensalzar su astucia, audacia, prudencia y habilidad como caudillo militar, así como su fuerza, destreza y valentía temeraria como guerrero en los combates y batallas, y tan sólo unos pocos han apuntado, desde un punto de vista específicamente castrense, aunque con escasa minuciosidad, sus aciertos en el terreno estratégico y táctico. El resultado: que la imagen del Cid como héroe legendario sujeta al mito literario esté por encima de aquella del guerrero histórico. Guerrero que trataremos de encontrar a través de sus batallas.
