Este trabajo está destinado a definir y desarrollar el concepto de novela en sus variadas formas y niveles de profundidad. Implica, por una parte, adentrase en la naturaleza de la narración y por otra, expandirse en la forma. Las dos son esenciales en otorgar carta de naturaleza a la novela, de la cual, desde el inicio, desconocemos su realidad o irrealidad, e iremos esculpiendo o pintando su alma y cuerpo.
De la misma manera evitaremos la erudición fatigosa que nos puede confundir cual fuera una cortina de humo. Dicho sea de otra manera, las citas agobiantes, la numeración exhaustiva de obras literarias tan necesarias para la erudición e incluso para los análisis filológicos, no nos servirán a nuestros fines para describir lo que llamamos por novela. Novela es la novela.

This work is intended to define and develop the concept of the novel in its various forms and levels of depth. It involves, on the one hand, delving into the nature of narrative and, on the other hand, expanding form. Both are essential for legitimizing a novel, given that, from the beginning, we do not know its reality or unreality, and we will be sculpting or painting its body and soul.
In the same way, we will avoid wearying scholarship that only serves as a confusing smoke screen.
In other words, the overwhelming quotes, and the exhaustive numbering of literary works so necessary for scholarship and even for philological analysis, do not serve our purpose of describing what we call a novel. A novel is a novel.
