    Antes del estallido de la Guerra Mundial, surgieron numerosas expresiones artísticas, como el dadaísmo o el surrealismo, que plantearon mediante sus lenguajes plásticos una relación directa con la sociedad del momento: desde la crítica o la evasión de esta. El surrealismo, el movimiento más trascendente de ambos, nació en el centro de la cultura y las artes del siglo XIX, París, y dio origen a algunos de los pintores más famosos y conocidos de la historia del arte:

    Dalí, Magritte o Marx Ernst. Pero Canarias, concretamente Tenerife, en su condición geográfica periférica, no estuvo exenta de la revolución artística.     Before the break out of World War, numerous artistic expressions emerged, such as dadaism or surrealism, which posed by its plastic lenguages a direct relationship with the society of the moment: from criticism or from the evasion of it. Surrealism, the most transcendent movement of both, born in the center of culture and arts of the nineteenth century, Paris, gave rise to some of the most famous and well-known painters in the history of art: Dalí, Magritte or Marx Ernst. But Canary Islands, concretly Tenerife, in its peripheral geographical condition, was not exempt from the artistic revolution. It contribution was very significant: Óscar Domínguez, another of the great surrealist artists;

    its landscapes and trees, which inspired the creator of this movement, André Breton; and finally gave a place to celebrate the second Exhibition of Surrealist Art in history
