This article stresses the need to take the plurality of languages and cultures into consideration when discussing how a person's subjectivity is constructed, i.e. the manifold identifications that, through their interaction and relation to language and languages, go towards shaping a human subject. It therefore seems pertinent to see subjectivity as a tension, a circulation or yet again a disjunction between several linguistic, discursive or cultural features, which may even sometimes be contradictory.
