    Las verrugas plantares son tumoraciones benignas causadas por el virus del papiloma humano (VPH). Son muy contagiosas, dolorosas y la recurrencia de estas lesiones suele ser alta. El calor, mala higiene o la humedad aumentan las posibilidades de contagio. El sitio habitual de aparición es en la planta de los pies. Es necesario realizar un diagnóstico diferencial con los callos. Existen numerosos tratamientos para su eliminación, aunque los más utilizados suele ser el ácido y la crioterapia, ambos compatibles con la edad pediátrica. Como primera opción los ácidos resultan más curativos, pero requieren una mayor constancia. La mejor manera de tratarlos, es la prevención, manteniendo una buena higiene y cuidando los pies.

    Plantar warts are benign growths caused by HPV. They are very contagious, painful and the recurrence of these lesions is usually high. Heat, poor hygiene or humidity increase the chances of infection. The usual site of appearance is on the soles of the feet. It is necessary to perform a differential diagnosis with corns. There are numerous treatments for its elimination, although the most used are usually acid and cryotherapy, both compatible with pediatric age. As a first option, acids are more curative, but require greater perseverance. The best way to treat them is prevention, maintaining good hygiene and taking care of the feet.
