La Salmonelosis (infección por Salmonella) es una de las principales causas de gastroenteritis en España, según la Red Nacional de Vigilancia Epidemiológica se registraron en España entre los años 2014-2017 entre 6800 y 9223 casos de salmonelosis1.
Para evitar y/o minimizar estas elevadas cifras en nuestro país es necesario realizar una detección y diagnóstico precoz de la enfermedad, evitando así la propagación en la comunidad.
Esta bacteria afecta al aparato intestinal, colonizando el intestino de animales y del hombre y se libera mediante las heces. Los humanos se infectan con mayor frecuencia mediante el agua o alimentos contaminados.
El diagnóstico de Salmonelosis se realiza en el Laboratorio de Microbiología, mediante cultivo, técnicas inmunocromatográficas y detección por PCR, siendo estas técnicas realizadas por el Técnico Superior de Laboratorio de Diagnóstico Clínico.

The diagnosis of Salmonellosis is carried out in the Microbiology Laboratory, through culture, immunochromatographic techniques and detection by PCR, these techniques being carried out by the Superior Technician of the Clinical Diagnosis Laboratory.
