    This paper presents an unpublished inscription discovered in the Byzacium, in the hinterland of the ancient cities of Lepti Minus and Thapsus. Quintio, an imperial freedman, honours the god Mercury designed as deus patrius. He probably obtained his freedom by progressing from a provincial context to the capital of the empire, where he served as adiutor tabularii in one of the Roman offices directed by the a rationibus: the mensa transmarinarum.

    Cette étude présente une inscription inédite découverte dans le Byzacium, l’arrière-pays des cités antiques de Lepti Minus et de Thapsus. Quintio, un affranchi impérial, rend hommage à Mercure qualifié de deus patrius. Il aurait gagné sa liberté en progressant du cadre provincial vers la capitale de l’Empire où il exerçait la fonction d’adiutor tabularii dans l’un des bureaux romains dirigés par l’a rationibus : la mensa transmarinarum.
