  Juan Bautista Pomar y Diego Muñoz Camargo, mestizos que escriben durante el siglo XVI, dejan testimonio del México prehispánico y colonial en sus crónicas recopilando información a través de fuentes tanto orales como escritas. Sus respectivas Relación de Texcoco (1582) e Historia de Tlaxcala (1594?) manifiestan un particular proceso de readaptación de la cultura otra que pone en escena la convivencia tensionada de tradiciones discursivas. En este contexto, el panegírico de las ciudades descriptas revela un discurso que manifiesta complejos cruces de las tradiciones indígena y occidental. Tlaxcala y Texcoco, ciudades enemigas antes de la conquista y de las que los autores son oriundos, en estas crónicas se encuentran panegirizadas desde una peculiar construcción del sujeto de la enunciación que se presenta desde un lugar que no corresponde por entero ni al del colonizador ni al del colonizado

  Juan Bautista Pomar and Diego Muñoz Camargo, half-blooded who wrote during the 16th century, left a testimony of pre-hispanic and colonial Mexico in their chronicles which compile information through both oral and written sources. Relación de Texcoco (Pomar, 1582) and Historia de Tlaxcala (Muñoz Camargo, 1594?) show a particular process of readaptation of the other culture that manifests the tense coexistence of discursive traditions. In this context, the panegyric of the cities described reveals a discourse that manifests a complex combination of the aborigine and occidental traditions. Tlaxcala and Texcoco, cities which were enemies before the conquest and where both authors were born, are panegyrized in these chronicles from a peculiar construction of the subject of the enunciation, who is presented from a perspective that does not correspond entirely to neither the colonizer nor the colonized. In this paper, we will analyze in what ways each city is described in these chronicles, which the function of their panegyric is and what impact it has on the construction of the half-caste discourse.
