La imprenta de la Biblioteca Mexicana: nuevas noticias de un taller tipográfico del siglo XVIII.

    Para la consecución y el cuidado de su obra magna, Eguiara y Eguren vio insuficiente la oferta de talleres de imprenta disponibles en la ciudad de México y Puebla, y decidió montar uno propio. En este trabajo se aborda el contexto político, legal y editorial en que se realizó esa gesta tipográfica; las relaciones de compe-tencia en que se insertó el establecimiento y se rastrean una variedad de datos que permiten explicar el hasta ahora incierto origen del material francés importado vía España. El ensayo finaliza con la descripción de las capitulares, ornamentos, letrerías y viñetas del taller a partir del estudio material de veinte ejemplares perte-necientes a la Biblioteca Nacional de México, y se ofrece la bibliografía de las ediciones cuyo pie de imprenta consigna “Biblioteca Mexicana”, disponibles en dicho acervo.

    To achieve and care of his magnum opus, Eguiara and Eguren considered insufficient the material available at print shops in Mexico City and Puebla, and because that he decided to set up his own typographical office. In this work I will present the political, legal and editorial contexts in which was performed that typographical feat; I also will explain the competitive relationships that the establishment was inserted, showing at the same time variety of data that explain the hitherto unknown origin of French materials imported via Spain tracked. The essay ends with a list of editions whose imprint present the name “Biblioteca Mexicana” and the description of typographical characteristics of books production of that office: the sort of capital letters, ornaments, type cases and vignettes we find in twenty book belonging to the National Library of Mexico.
