    The use of audio and video recorded corpora, which emerged in a systematic way with conversation analysis in the 1960s, has deeply transformed the way of doing linguistics. This paper addresses some of these theoretical and analytical issues, concerning both the way in which « data » and « corpora » are defined and the phenomena they make observable and available for analysis : linguistic and multimodal resources as they emerge step by step within the sequential organization of talk-in-interaction. The analysis of a series of interactions in a call centre shows the issues raised by the focus on video and not only audio recordings of this kind of professional interaction. More particularly, it shows how embedded the organization of multiple activities are, mobilizing linguistic as well as multimodal and technological resources. This kind of data complexifies the view on phone calls and on their situated organization as well as the perspective on language in interaction.

    Cet article synthétise quelques-unes des transformations théoriques impliquées par l’exigence, née dans les années soixante, de travailler sur des « naturally occurring data » pour y fonder le développement d’une linguistique centrée sur la parole en interaction. Ces transformations concernent autant la définition des « données » et des « corpus » que les enjeux de l’analyse, centrée sur des formes-dans-le-temps et dans-l’action, et intégrant les dimensions située et multimodale des pratiques socio-langagières. L’analyse d’interactions téléphoniques enregistrées en vidéo dans un centre d’appel permettra de souligner quelques-uns de ces enjeux, faisant intervenir à la fois des formes linguistiques, des ressources multimodales, des pratiques interactionnelles et des médiations technologiques.
