    Las historias naturales escritas por los misioneros jesuitas de los siglos XVII y XVIII surgieron del interés por conocer y describir las especies naturales del continente americano y constituyeron una de las primeras apro-ximaciones eruditas a este nuevo objeto de estudio. Consideramos en este trabajo las memorias del natura-lista jesuita Florián Paucke, escritas entre 1778 y 1780 con el título Hin und Her. El caso de las memorias de Paucke nos permitirá indagar la diversidad de lenguajes y modelos taxonómicos involucrados en las historias naturales de los jesuitas y también nos dará la posibilidad de examinar los modos de producción y circulación de las ilustraciones con las que se buscaba registrar o representar las especies naturales del nuevo continente. Lenguajes, taxonomías e ilustraciones son entonces las categorías con las que trataremos de reconstruir algunos de los principales rasgos de las historias naturales de los jesuitas.

    The natural histories written by the 17th and 18th centuries Jesuit missionaries arised from the interest to know and describe the natural species of the American continent and constituted one of the first erudite approaches to this new object of study. We consider in this work the memoirs of Jesuit naturalist Florián Paucke, written between 1778 and 1780 with the title Hin und Her. The case of Paucke’s memoirs will allow us to investigate the diversity of languages and taxonomic models involved in the natural histories of the Jesuits and will also give us the possibility of examining the modes of production and circulation of illustrations representing natural species of the new continent. Languages, taxonomies and illustrations are then the categories with which we will try to reconstruct some of the main features of the natural histories of the Jesuits.
