Silencios del Archivo Virreinal Rioplatense. Ficciones de pueblo: la plebe ante un hecho de “famoso contenido".

    La literatura del período virreinal en el Río de la Plata ha recibido poca atención por parte de la crítica. Sin embargo, dentro de los márgenes que la escena letrada tenía en la región, es posible leer otras escenas. Una de ellas, que hemos recuperado del archivo, se conforma en el momento en el que el imperio español triunfa frente a los portugueses en la Colonia del Sacramento, en 1777. Ante ese hecho, Juan Baltasar Maziel escribe un conjunto de poemas, dentro del cual se incluye el primer poema gauchesco. Al mismo tiempo, existen otros textos que han sido escritos por una pluma anónima. En ambos casos, la plebe ocupa un lugar desta-cado. Si tenemos en cuenta que para la literatura rioplatense la plebe ha tenido un rol importante durante el siglo XIX, los textos mencionados merecen ser leídos para completar una historia literaria que permanece trunca si obviamos el pasado de lo canónico. Este artículo intenta poner sobre la mesa ese debate. Recuperar del silencio a textos que han tenido voz propia.

    The literature of the viceregal period in the Río de la Plata has received little attention from critics. However, within the margins that the literate scene had in the region it is possible to read other scenes. One of them, which we have recovered from the archive, is formed at the moment in which the Spanish empire triumphs over the Portuguese in the Colonia del Sacramento, in 1777. Given this fact, Juan Baltasar Maziel writes a set of poems, within the which includes the first gaucho poem. At the same time, there are other texts that have been written by an anonymous pen. In both cases, the common people occupy a prominent place. If we take into account that for Rio de la Plata literature the plebs played an important role during the 19th century, the aforementioned texts deserve to be read in order to complete a literary history that remains truncated if we ignore the canonical past. This article tries to put that debate on the table.
